As the exam period came to an end, students across ESTIN reflected on a semester marked by challenge, learning, and personal growth. While the exams required focus and endurance, they also helped students better understand university expectations and develop stronger academic habits.
Across all levels, students highlighted the importance of consistency, practice, and time management—key skills that define success in higher education worldwide.
First-Year Voices: From High School to University Exams
For 1CP students, this first exam period represented a major transition. Many described a clear difference between high school exams and university assessments. Unlike high school, where last-minute revision could sometimes be enough, university exams required continuous work, deeper understanding, and real organization.
Several first-year students pointed out that university exams are heavier in content, more demanding in reasoning, and less predictable. Managing multiple modules at once and adapting to new teaching methods made this first semester particularly formative.
As one student expressed:
“In high school I used to prepare the night before, but here that doesn’t work at all—you have to study from the beginning.”
Another student shared:
“University exams are more difficult and require real understanding, not just memorizing.”
Despite the difficulty, many 1CP students saw this experience as an important lesson—helping them understand what is expected at university and how to improve for the future.
What Students Found Most Helpful
Students across different years mentioned similar strategies that supported them during the exam period:
- Practicing with past exams
- Studying regularly instead of cramming
- Working in groups and exchanging explanations
- Creating summaries and personal notes
- Using online resources to reinforce understanding
These methods helped students feel more confident and better prepared, even when exams felt challenging.
One student noted:
“Understanding past exams and practicing regularly really helped.”
A Demanding but Valuable Experience
While opinions on difficulty varied, the exam period helped students build resilience, discipline, and confidence. Many emphasized that even when exams were hard, the experience itself was valuable.
As one student simply put it:
“It was hard—but it helped me grow.”
Moving Forward
This exam period reminded students that university success is a process built over time. With clearer expectations and stronger study habits, students move forward better prepared for future challenges.
At ESTIN, exams are not only an evaluation—they are a learning experience that shapes capable, determined, and resilient students.
